Cell Phones for Seniors

Kindly join D'Estee, Inc. as we participate with the Cook County Sheriff's Department “Cell Phones for Seniors Program” by donating your old cell phones for a good cause. Sheriff Thomas Dart is collecting used cell phones to distribute as 911 Emergency Cellular Phones for Cook County senior citizens who are considered at risk. By donating your old cell phone, you will be allowing seniors to feel more secure about living and traveling independently. Look for the drop off box in the Harrison room. You will be able to drop your phones off through November.

Jabberwock

D'Estee, Inc. and the Chicago Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will host Jabberwock 2008: A Party with a Purpose. This biennial benefit, which encompasses a luncheon, pageant, silent auction, raffle and entertainment, will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2008 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, 151 East Wacker Drive.

Jabberwock, established in 1925, is a scholarship fundraiser. The proceeds are used to provide college tuition and book stipends for Chicago Public School students who have achieved academic excellence with a proven record of leadership, service and need assistance financing a four-year college education. Chicago Alumnae currently provides scholarships to 31 students, each receiving up to $4,000 per year.

We know that you, like us, want to ensure that our young scholars are encouraged and equipped to succeed. Typically, more than 1,200 people attend the Jabberwock luncheon. We are requesting your support of this significant fundraiser and we have listed below ways you can help:

  • Underwrite a portion of the event. Receive prominent company logo display and inclusion in the Jabberwock program/ad book
  • Donate a monetary or in-kind gift, such as flowers, table centerpieces or gift bag items.
  • Secure an ad in the Jabberwock pogram ad/book. Advertise your business and/or include a message of support.
  • Donate a silent auction and/or raffle item.
  • Purchase individual tickets or a table to the luncheon.
