Dear Sorors,
Healthy Lifestyle
The Program Planning and Development Committeee encourages us not to forget our pledge to the National Healthy Lifestyle Focus. While vacations and our Regional Conference may have caused some of us to fall off the wagon, we must step up to the challenge of making wise choices for a heart healthy lifestyle.
To keep the momentum going for those who are still following their weight loss program Soror Phyllis Little has five helpful tips for making through the upcoming holidays withoug gaining the additional pounds:
- Don't forget to exercise! If you have a holday party at night, do a quick workout in the morning. Or before holiday shopping, take a 20 minute brisk walk around the mall.
- Limit your alcohol consumption. Alcohol calories very easily turn to fat and these empty calories can easily add up
- Limit empty calories such as soda pop and candy. Have your favorite holiday high calorie food such as pie, but limit others that don't bring you as much satisfication.
- Use smaller plates at buffets and potlucks.
- Bring a healthy dish to the celebration. People always love fruit trays and cut up veggies, whole wheat pit wedges or crackers and a low fat dip or salsa are also hits at parties.
